Why You Might Need Our Contact Lens Services

Whether you're dealing with dry eye syndrome or irregular corneas, our team at Eye Check Health & Vision is ready to help. We offer a thorough and transparent contact lens assessment. Please read the steps we take below.

  • Comprehensive Eye Exam

Your eye doctor at Eye Check Health & Vision will first assess your overall eye health and vision. This includes the following:

    • Discussing your health history and conducting standard eye tests to evaluate focusing
    • Eye teaming
    • Depth perception
    • Color vision
    • Peripheral vision
    • Pupil response to light

We will also measure your eye’s fluid pressure to check for glaucoma, evaluate your retina and optic nerve, and test your vision with different lenses to see if contact lenses can improve your vision.

  • Discussion of Your Preferences

If contact lenses are suitable for you, the next step is to discuss your preferences. Do you want to enhance or change your eye color? Would you prefer daily disposable lenses or overnight contacts? Your doctor will explain the benefits and drawbacks of each option. If you’re over 40, they will discuss age-related vision changes and how contact lenses can help.

  • Eye Surface Measurements

Precise measurements of your eyes are necessary for contact lenses to fit properly. Using a keratometer, your doctor will measure the curvature of your cornea. They will also measure your pupil size using a card or ruler with different pupil sizes held next to your eye to determine the best match.

  • Tear Film Evaluation

If you have dry eyes, your eye doctor will measure your tear film to check for sufficiency. Insufficient tear film may make contact lenses unsuitable, but newer lenses that deliver moisture can be a better option for dry eyes.

  • Contact Lens Fitting

In the fitting step, you’ll receive a trial pair of contact lenses. The doctor will check the fit and alignment of the lenses and confirm the prescription with a few tests.

  • Testing Your Contact Lens

After your exam, you’ll wear the trial lenses for a week and return for a follow-up to ensure they work well. If this is your first contact lens exam, inform your optometrist so they can allocate extra time for your consultation and specialized tests.

Our team is ready to assist you in finding the perfect lens that suits your needs. Don't hesitate to request an appointment with us now to get started.

Browse Our Contact Lens Types and Their Benefits

  • Hard Lenses

Traditional hard lenses, typically made from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), were the original contact lenses but have largely been replaced by more advanced materials.

    Benefits:

    • Durable and long-lasting
    • Provide crisp vision correction
    • Less prone to dehydration compared to soft lenses
  • Soft Lenses

Soft lenses are made from flexible, water-absorbing materials, making them comfortable and easy to adapt to.

    Benefits:

    • High initial comfort
    • Available in various designs for different vision needs (e.g., toric for astigmatism, multifocal for presbyopia)
    • Suitable for active lifestyles due to their stability
  • Multifocal Lenses

Multifocal lenses have different zones designed to correct vision at varying distances, similar to bifocal or progressive eyeglasses.

    Benefits:

    • Correct both near and distance vision in one lens
    • Reduce the need for reading glasses
    • Available in both soft and RGP materials
  • Limbal Fit Lenses

Limbal fit lenses are designed to rest on the limbus, the border area between the cornea and the sclera. They provide a broader fit compared to traditional corneal lenses.

    Benefits:

    • Increased stability and reduced lens movement
    • Better comfort due to the reduced pressure on the cornea
    • Suitable for irregular corneas or post-surgical eyes
  • Rigid Gas-Permeable (RGP) Lenses

    • RGP lenses are made of a firm, durable plastic that transmits oxygen to the eye.

    Benefits:

    • Provide sharp vision correction
    • Durable and long-lasting
    • Resistant to deposit buildup
    • Suitable for various corneal irregularities
  • Hybrid Lenses

Hybrid lenses combine a rigid gas-permeable (RGP) central zone with a soft outer skirt. This design aims to provide the visual clarity of RGP lenses with the comfort of soft lenses.

    Benefits:

    • Sharp vision correction like RGP lenses
    • Improved comfort due to the soft outer skirt
    • Suitable for irregular corneas and conditions like keratoconus
  • Scleral Lenses

Scleral lenses are large-diameter lenses that vault over the entire corneal surface and rest on the sclera (the white part of the eye).

    Benefits:

    • Excellent for severe dry eyes as they create a tear-filled vault over the cornea
    • Stable and comfortable, with minimal movement
    • Ideal for irregular corneas, including keratoconus and post-surgery conditions
  • Full-Scleral Lenses

Full-scleral lenses are a subtype of scleral lenses that cover the entire corneal surface and extend onto the sclera.

    Benefits:

    • Provide a stable fit with minimal movement
    • Create a tear reservoir beneficial for severe dry eye
    • Excellent for protecting and healing the corneal surface
  • Mini-Scleral Lenses

Mini-scleral lenses are smaller than full scleral lenses but still rest on the sclera, providing many of the same benefits.

    Benefits:

    • Easier to handle and insert than full scleral lenses
    • Still, provides the comfort and stability of scleral lenses
    • Suitable for less severe cases of corneal irregularities
  • Semi-Scleral Lenses

Semi-scleral lenses are intermediate in size, resting partly on the cornea and partly on the sclera.

    Benefits:

    • Provide stability and comfort
    • Suitable for moderately irregular corneas
    • Easier adaptation for some users compared to full-scleral lenses

I couldn't have been more pleased by the service I received, and the new glasses I purchased at Eye Check Health & Vision! Everyone working was super friendly, helpful, and professional!

From getting my insurance benefits recorded and approved at the start of my visit, to the eye exam, and then picking out my new prescription glasses my visit was a top-notch experience!

The technology Dr. Reppert used to show me a detailed computer image of my eye was so amazing, and everything was super sanitary! I would highly recommend Dr. Reppert and Eye Check Health & Vision to everyone!
